The Upstate folks are pissed off

Good ‘ole Dan Hoover has a piece on his blog about the possibility that Andre Bauer might be drafted to run against Congressman Bob Inglis.  It almost reads as if he was cheering him on as well.

This is interesting to us.  We always knew that Andre had little ideas of running for Congress dancing in his head, but we just assumed that it would be the First Congressional District.  Andre owns property (his primary residence we believe) in Charleston and we just assumed that when Henry Brown retired, Rod Shealy had his candidate already lined up.

Now, it seems the entire right wing is up in arms over Inglis’ stance on Iraq and the buzz around the Upstate is “Run Andre, Run!”  We think this fervor will cool down a bit, and we honestly believe that your residence is a factor irregardless of constitutionality.  But it sure is interesting to think about.  No matter how early; we bet Bob Inglis will be thinking about how much he doesnt want to run against the Comeback Kid.

It’s a shame that everytime SC’s Republican congressional delegation steps out of line they’re threatened with a primary (see Lindsey Graham). One might even theorize that that kind of dogmatic approached attributed to their recent failures… but I digress.

  2. Esther Says:

Andre? Seriously? The man barely won reelection. Key word in this blurb is “KID”. Whatever our problems with Bob, we want an adult representing us.

  3. John R. Wagner Says:

This is one Republican that is standing by Bob Inglis. I like my politicians to have an independent streak and not just rubber stamp whatever the party line happens to be at the time. We have a real problem in Iraq, and though pulling out is certainly not the answer, I’m not sure that the troop surge will accomplish much either. There are no easy answers here.

  4. Vince Says:

Andre??!! Are you kidding. Inglis is tilting left with his war opinions, amnesty for illegals and not wanting to drill US oil. I would like to see him recalled. But Bauer is a step downward.

  5. James Says:

I would like to see Anrde as a candidate. Nothing matures one like experience and Andre has had plenty, both negative and positive. He is intelligent enough to not repeat bad mistakes. Rod Shealey has a good potential candidate here and I hope he does well.

  6. Karen Says:

I agree with Vince, except that Bauer is not a step down. He may not be right for the job, that’s debatable, but at this point I don’t know anyone who is a step down from Inglis

  7. Joe Says:

I just hope the Republicans will find someone decent to run against Bob, I think he didn’t really do his homework on what those that elected him want. He’s gone all over the area trying hard to justify his manuverings, still don’t think it will wash with conservatives come election time. I’m just sorry that I don’t live in the 4th district anymore so I could cast a ballot against him.
